Which Way Will You Go?
Take a walk with your kids. Every time you come to an intersection, ask them to choose which way to go and then go that way.
Ask:
What would happen if you made the choice to go the other way? Where would it end? (In a different place)
Do we have a choice about where we will go when we die? (Yes)
God gave us a free will. That means we can decide if we want to spend our life with God or separated from God. God wants us to go His way, but He doesn't make anyone love or accept His Son, Jesus. He gives us a choice. If we choose to go God's way, we will never be judged (punished) for our sin and will live forever in heaven. If we choose to go another way, we will be separated from God forever in hell.

Little Choices and Big Choices
Item needed: small rock or penny
While waiting, play rock school (a game I often played as a little girl and played with my own kids while we were waiting). All you need is a small rock (or penny). Start every one out at the same place (this is kindergarten). Put the rock in one hand (behind your back so they can't see which hand you put it in) and let each kid guess (one at a time) which hand has the rock in it. If they guess correctly, they move to the "next grade"; if they guess the wrong hand, they stay where they are until their next turn to guess. The first one to "twelfth grade" is the winner.
Say something like: Some choices in life are not that important—like choosing which hand has the rock in it. This is just a little game to play while we're waiting. Some choices in life are way more important. Choosing to go God's way and following Him is the best choice anyone can make. That choice will determine where you live after you die.

Be Ready!
Announce to the kids that you will take everyone for a treat if they are in the dining room at 6:00 p.m. (or whatever time you choose). Warn them to be ready (maybe even give a 10 minute warning) if they want to go.
Follow through and take everyone out for a treat. (If you don't think you can leave one behind, don't do this—it defeats the point of the activity.)
Ask:
What would have happened if you weren't ready? (We would have been left behind, we would have missed out)
Has God given us a similar announcement about being ready? What did He say?
Read Matthew 24:42-44. (Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.)
Why is it important to be ready for Jesus to come back? (He will reward those who have accepted Him and will judge/punish those who rejected Him.)
