Living a "HOLEY" Life
Items needed: colander
Two buckets of water
Run a relay race to see the frustration that can happen when we try to fill our lives with things that can never fill us.
Mark a starting point (outside) and put a bucket of water to mark it. Put an empty bucket about 15 feet away. Tell the kids the object of the relay is to get the water from one bucket into the other one USING the colander.
Ask:
Why was it so hard to get the water in the bucket? (The colander was filled with holes)
Why was it so hard to get the water in the bucket? (The colander was filled with holes)
What would make it better? (Fill up the holes, use a different container, etc.)

Chasing Wind
Read Ecclesiastes 1:14: “I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after the wind.”
Solomon wrote the verses above; he was one of the wisest men who ever lived, but he knew that life without God is like chasing the wind. You can never catch happiness. True happiness comes from a relationship with God, a forever friendship with Him.
If your child has not yet received Christ, ask some questions to see if he or she understands.
Why did Jesus die on the cross? (To suffer our punishment and die for our sin)
What is sin? (Wrong things we think, say, or do that break God's rules)
What is sin? (Wrong things we think, say, or do that break God's rules)
Have you ever sinned?
Why would you need Jesus in your life? (To take away my sin)
Are you willing to follow Jesus and go His way instead of your own way?
Read some Bible verses to show them the way to start this friendship with God: Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, John 1:12.
If you think your child is ready, give him or her a chance to pray and receive Christ as Savior. If you feel your child does not completely understand, reassure him or her that God's love is more than they can understand.

Hebrews 13:5
Students are learning Hebrews 13:5. Read Jesus' promise—I will never leave you. If you have young children, say each word of the promise using your hand; say one word with each finger. Let the older kids learn the entire verse.
Ask:
What does God promise? (That He will never leave us)
Why is this a good promise? (When we have Him, we have all that we need)
We can be content because we know He has promised to give us all we need. When we have Jesus, we have all we need! There is no real meaning in life without a relationship with Him.
Ask kids to draw a picture illustrating the verse, and then write the promise across the top of the picture. As each one shows their picture, let them say the promise as a prayer of praise to God.
