The First
Talk about firsts–first day at school, first tooth lost, first time to ride a bike, first time to walk, talk, etc.
Ask:
Who were the first people on the earth?
Who was the first person to sin?
Who were the first people on the earth?
Who was the first person to sin?
God put Adam and Eve in the beautiful garden of Eden and told them they could eat from every tree except one. Satan (in the form of a serpent) questioned God’s instructions and tempted Eve to eat the fruit from the forbidden tree. Eve believed Satan’s lie, ate the fruit, and gave some to Adam. (This act is sometimes called the fall of man.)
God made Adam and Eve perfect with NO sin, but they chose to sin. Now every person is born with a sin nature—a desire to sin. No one had to teach you to grab your toy and say, “Mine!” No one had to teach you to lie when you thought you might get in trouble. God created man with a free will—each of us can choose whether we will follow His way or go our own way.

For ALL Have Sinned...
Students using the D6 curriculum are memorizing a foundational verse: Romans 3:23 (For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God).
Write the Bible verse on a piece of paper and hang it on the fridge (or somewhere where family members can see it each day).
Ask:
What is sin? (anything we think, do, or say that goes against God’s rules)
What is sin? (anything we think, do, or say that goes against God’s rules)
How do we know what God’s rules are? (They’re in the Bible–the Ten Commandments are a good place to start.)
What are some sins people do? (tell lies, steal, disobey parents, hate others, covet, kill, take God’s name in vain, etc.)
Who has sinned? (ALL–including mom and dad, the pastor, the president, every person alive)
Only God is without sin; He is holy. Even though some may sin more than others, we are all sinners and need God to take away our sin.
Review the Bible verse by saying the first word of the verse, then tossing a soft ball or stuffed animal to one kid who will say the next word in the verse. That one will toss the ball back to you to say another word and you will toss the ball to someone else who will say the next word. Take turns tossing the ball back and forth while saying the next word in the verse.

Warning Labels
Item Needed: Cleaning product with a warning label or a label with the poison symbol on it
Ask:
What does this symbol mean? (this product is poisonous, this is not safe to drink or taste)
Why did the people who made this product put this symbol on the bottle? (They know that if you were to swallow the product, it could hurt you.)
Sin should have a warning label on it. Even though Eve may not have thought it was so bad to disobey God and eat the fruit, it was a very bad thing. It is never good to sin and go against God’s way. God made us and knows what is best for us.
