Impossible is Nothing
After breakfast one morning give each child an assignment (make it snow, create some new flowers for the yard, make a new star to enjoy, heal a sick person, etc.) You children will look at you strangely (if they don’t already do so) and say, “What?” Repeat the assignment and ask them why they can’t do it. Explain that only Jesus (who is God) can do all these things. THAT is why we obey Him. He made everything and has all-power, so He is in charge!
Jesus and Dinosaurs
A great website to visit with your kids is www.answersingenesis.org. There is a special section for kids and there are answers to most any question that might come up (Is Jesus God? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? What happened to the dinosaurs? Is the Bible true? and LOTS more).
Ping Pong Memorization
Memorize Psalm 100:3 (Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us and not we ourselves.
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.)
Let the kids come up with motions for the verse (point to forehead for “know,” point upward for “God,” etc.). Say the verse together with the motions several times throughout the day.
A good way to review the verses is to play “ping pong.” You say a word, then the kids say a word; you say a word, then they say a word until the verse is completed. If someone misses a word, you have to start the verse over. Keep reviewing the verses you’ve already learned.
I'm Already in
Many children are unsure about their salvation and tend to want to invite Jesus in again and again. 2 Peter says that if you keep growing (adding good things to your life – faith, knowledge, self-control, patience, goodness, kindness, love), you can be sure that you are a Christ follower.
One way I’ve explained this to children is by having one child go outside the room or house and knock on the door. I go to the door, invite the child in and sit down and begin to talk. As we are talking, I say to the child, “Come in, Susan.” Of course, she will probably say, “I’m already in.” Talk a little more and say again, “Come in, Susan.”
Explain that you only need to invite Jesus into your heart one time. You DO need to say, “I’m sorry,” when you sin, but Jesus does not leave you. Sin makes Him sad, but He is still in your heart. If they keep adding good things, they will grow in assurance.
That's Impossible!!!
D6 Curriculum kids are studying 1 and 2 Peter in small group and Sunday school. Peter says that believers are assured of many good things because of God’s promises. You can count on God’s promises to always be true!
Do the following math trick with your kids. You will always get the right answer.
What You Need:
- A willing participant
- Willing participant needs to have an undetermined amount of change in their pocket.
- Paper
- Pencil
What To Do:
- Ask the person to take his/her age and multiply it by 2.
- Add 5.
- Multiply this sum by 50.
- Subtract 365.
- Add the amount of loose pocket change, but do NOT count change totaling $1 or over (i.e., must be less than $1)
- Add 115 -- final outcome:
Notice that the first two digits will be the person's age, and the last two digits are the amount of the person's pocket change.

If you have young children, teach them a few basic math truths. While you’re cooking dinner, put one spoon on the table and then another one. Ask them to tell you the number of spoons. Assure them if you add 1 plus 1 you will always get 2. In the same way, God’s Word- His promises – are always true!
